Dan Gaydon Tribute Clothing

In December Last year Danny Gaydon from Minehead, died tragicly whilst pursuing his love of travelling in Africa. One year on a small group of his friends, who make up the new clothing brand Colony IV, have created a design for T-shirts and Hoodies as a tribute to him.

Colony IV, with input from Dannys family & friends, have created the memorial design which will be available from Tony Pryce Sport’s surfshop outlets ‘Wipeout’ and online at liquidlines.co.uk from the beginning of December.

The design has been created using inspiration from Danny’s love of travelling, his passion for exotic animals and enjoyment of diving.

The tee shirts, which are available in mens and womens styles, have been printed on bamboo material rather than cotton, which are both in keeping with Dan’s environmental beliefs and Colony IV’s future to offer eco-friendly products. Bamboo is also really soft offering great comfort.
You can also see Danny’s tribute site at

Cricket Tournament for Dan Gaydon

Sunday 26th - Memorial Cricket Tournament for Dan Gaydon.

After being postponed a couple of months ago because of the great English weather, the Carhampton Cricket Tournament in memory of a good friend of ours Dan Gaydon took place. Dan sadly died last December.

The standard of cricket was mixed, Colony IV's team were knocked out due to a one run defeat thanks to some poor fielding, no names will be mentioned! Many people from the local area both young and old came along to support, everyone had a great day and raised alot of money for Dan's different Charity's. Due to the constant flow of cider from 10am there were a few hangovers come Monday morning. If you would like to donate to the Galapagos Conservation trust of which Dan was a member please visit www.gct.org/tributes/dgaydon.html

Diary of Colony IV team rider Harry Lee

27th 28th of July. UK Bike Park Torico Race series. Round 2.

After a well navigated trip down to a not very sunny dorset, we arrived at the UK bike park on Friday night. After a dark, very slippy and muddy walk of the track, it was looking interesting. The track consisted of a level pedaly start, into a bus stop, off a 4foot drop, into off camber, rooty hairpin corners that snaked down the valley until a very fast section consisting of 3 medium sized doubles, into a very long road gap, finishing with a slippy off camber left corner the finish line.

On Saturday morning, with wet mud tyres on, armour, and a good hearty breakfast bars chocolate spread we set out for the first practise run of the track. It was very tricky, and though the practice day there were various casualties, including a dislocated shoulder from Jay, having landed the road gap squarely on it. On the whole a good practise day, leaving us in good spirits as we prepared to camp for our second night.

Race day came and it was clear to see that there were a lot more people there than on the practise day. With a couple of practice runs down, the track was feeling good. Lined up at the start I had a felling that just a solid run with no crashing would be a fair time. First timed run down was sketchy, as the conditions on the track had changed since my last practice run. Arriving at the final straight over the doubles with plenty of speed gave me a good feeling that I was doing ok, but having over cooked the corner after the road gap, I slid out and came to a halt on my back in sight of the finish line. I grabbed my bike and ran across the finish line in a time of 2:07.

I was disappointed with falling off, but a fairly reasonable time with a crash. Second run down was a lot better, the track was dryer, and the sun was shining, brightening everything up a little. With a good solid crash free second run I pulled in a time off 1:50.9. Feeling much better about my second run we all headed up the top to check out the positions. With my better second time I managed to get 16th place out of the 77 riders there. On the whole a good weekends racing.

Tom Major back from broken leg

July 7th - Congrats to ColonyIV surfer Tom Major who after months out with a broken leg got through to the final in the Club's junior league, Tom was narrowly beaten by a slim margin of 0.2 the second placing puts him top of the league, and with the next contest being held in minimum of 4' feet conditions it should favour him.

NASS 07

July 6th-8th Bath & West Showground. For the second year Colony IV showcased at NASS (National Action Sports Show) . Nearly 50.000 people across the weekend saw some of the best BMX, FMX and Skaters in the country. The crap summer weather was blown away along with many tents on the friday leaving the rest of the weekend baked in sunshine, this saw all Colony IV caps selling out due sun burn. Apart from some broken bones for some of the fearless riders and some night time riots all went well, the Colony IV team had an awesome weekend. Check out our myspace for more photos.

Colony IV Footie 5 a side Team

June 10th - The Colony IV sponsored footie team played in the world famous Alcombe 5 a Side football tournament, buoyed by the last minute signing from a certain german striker, hopes were high. The boys came up against some stiff competition from such teams as Beaver United, The Should have beens and the All No Naughts, conditions were hard in the blazing sun shine and sadly it was an early exit for the team, the boys played well and were unlucky not to qualify from the group stages.......... there is always next year!!!

BUSA Surf Championship Feb 2007

Thousands of students and the Colony IV team headed down to Newquay for the BUSA surf comp for the last weekend of Feb for a great weekend of surfing and partying.
The conditions over the weekend varied from 6-7 ft surf on the first day, to some tough onshore waves on day two. On the day of the finals the surf was 3-4 ft, a little ragged due to the wind, but totally contestable. ColonyIV sponsored the Worcester Uni Team, the team did well, their stand out surfer was Mike Auton, apprently drinking loads of cider helps you surf! Colin decided not to surf and partyed hard. Good fun was had by all.
